About Course
This training program is designed to enhance the technical knowledge and skills of OPAL employees in critical areas of fluid handling, piping design, pressure safety systems, and pump operations. Below is a brief overview of the topics covered:
1. Line Sizing and Pressure Drop Calculation
Participants will learn methods for sizing piping systems, calculating pressure drops, and determining friction factors in fluid flow systems. This includes both major and minor loss calculations.
2. Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs)
This module covers PSV terminology, types, and their role in safeguarding systems. We will explore the API 520/521 standards, PSV sizing procedures, and design cases to understand the practical implementation of PSVs, including series and parallel configurations.
3. Introduction to Fluid Mechanics and Pumps
An introduction to fluid mechanics will be provided, focusing on fundamental concepts and the impact on pump design. Participants will gain knowledge on pump sizing, NPSH calculation, understanding pump curves, and hydraulic power requirements as per API 610. Practical applications and case studies will also be discussed to demonstrate pump design principles in real-world scenarios.
